Spring Break SIPA Style COLUMBIA UNIVERSITY - SIPA Admissions Blog
Spring Break SIPA Style COLUMBIA UNIVERSITY - SIPA Admissions Blog When we were in college, spring break meant lying on the beach drink in hand (Cancun or Acapulco was often the destination of choice), reading Vogue (GQ for the guys out there) and delightfully indulgent tabloids, and working on bronzing your Vitamin D deficient skin. Now that weâre in graduate school at SIPA, things are slightly different. We have traded in those carefree beach days for capstone work trips. Thatâs right folks, many of us are heading into the field over the next week to work on our semester-long projects in places like Honduras, Tanzania, Jordan, Kosovo and India. Many of you may think we would be despondent over this change. No more drinks with tiny umbrellas in a beautiful locale? But truthfully, these capstone trips are far better than any spring break of our undergraduate days. The fulfilling work we do overseas furthers our understanding of international affairs and development, and many of the trips have a sightseeing component as well (The Tanzania kids are off to Zanzibar and we think thatâs very cool). Many SIPA students not traveling for their capstone project over spring break are still taking advantage of the schoolâs extracurricular options. The Japanese Student Association is hosting a trip to Tokyo, and the Arab Student Association is organizing a Moroccan adventure that includes stops in Casablanca, Rabat, Marrakech, and Tangier. And of course, though they are few and far between, there are those among us that are opting for Cancun.

Comparisson of Mother Tounge and Everyday Use - 1417 Words
Edgar Hernandez Professor Ali ENC 1102 March 20, 2014 Amy Tans, ââ¬Å"Mother Tongueâ⬠and Alice Walkers ââ¬Å"Everyday Useâ⬠both share similar traits in their writings of these two short stories. ââ¬Å"Mother Tongueâ⬠revolves around the experiences Tan and her mother had due to her mothers English speaking limitations, she also revolves her story around the relationship of a mother and daughter. Alice walker on the other hand writes a story narrated by ââ¬Å"Mamaâ⬠the mother of two daughters Maggie and Dee and explains the conflicting relationship she has with Dee, both writers similarly emphasize on the relationships these mother and daughter characters had and they unravel both short stories based on these relationships. Although both short storiesâ⬠¦show more contentâ⬠¦Bother writers also use different point of views. Tan speaks from first person point of view telling her story as Walker narrates through ââ¬Å"Mamaâ⬠the mother of both daughters. The opposing points go further t han writers point of view, the short story Mother Tongue truly represents Amy Tans love and passion for her mother as well as her writing. Walkerââ¬â¢s story tells more of a daughter who despite been given everything, yet has turned into a undesirable human being and a daughter who in some ways looks down on her mother and sister. In Alice Walkers ââ¬Å"Everyday Useâ⬠she uses a tactic to set a mood for the reader by bringing in the character Maggie. Walkers use of language when describing Maggie creates a picture of a physically scarred and unintelligent girl. Maggies physical scarring is pointed out to the reader early in the story to convey the feeling of sympathy. Walker accomplishes this when she states that Maggie has, burn scars down her arms and legs (Walker 272). Tan also does this in a vaguely way when she writes ââ¬Å" My mother has long realized the limitations of her English as wellâ⬠which also helps convey the feeling of empathy to the character. The w riters also focus on different point in their stories. ââ¬Å"Mother Tongueâ⬠focuses on the prejudices of Amy and her

Analysis of The Practice of Leadership Authored by Jay A Conger and
Essays on Analysis of The Practice of Leadership Authored by Jay A Conger and Ronald E Riggio Book Report/Review ï » ¿Book Report Table of Contents Introduction 2 Selection of the Topic 2 Selection of the Book 3 Summary 4 Primary View 4 Identification of Two Words 5 Linkage 6 Take Away 6 Meeting with the Author 7 Conclusion 9 Reference 10 Bibliography 11 Introduction ââ¬ËThe Practice of Leadership: Developing the Next Generation of Leadersââ¬â¢ authored by Jay A Conger and Ronald E Riggio has been an immensely successful book in the domain of management with special emphasis on the function of leadership. The book, published from John Willey and Sons in the year of 2007, has considerable influence upon my understanding of the subject. This report deals with the various facets of the book. Selection of the Topic ââ¬ËLeadershipââ¬â¢ is one of such topics that attract me because of its special attributes. To become a successful manager, one needs to be a good leader. It is my desirousness that I would be a successful manager and can train the subordinates as they also can become successful in their fields and ultimately can successfully achieve the organisational targets and goals. It demands to build a leadership quality in me. I understand that the quality of leadership can not be built up externally as it is an in-born quality but with the changing global scenario one must keep himself updated and should learn the latest techniques which can sharpen the leadership qualities. Self- assessment is the best technique to take decision on any issues related with oneself and I also followed the same. On doing so, I found that I have an inherent quality to organise a group, understand the requirements of the group members and solve their problems. I have identified this quality while work as a team leader in different projects. Therefore, in order to update myself and to become more effective in this respect, I had chosen this interesting topic of leadership. Selection of the Book Being a student and not an expert in the corporate world, I was searching for such a book which would be easy to understand and from where practical experiences can be drawn. Standing at the edge of the corporate world, these practical experiences will help me to understand the requirement of the industry. ââ¬ËThe Practice of Leadership: Developing the Next Generation of Leadersââ¬â¢ by Jay A Conger and Ronald E Riggio resolves all my queries and fulfils the requirements. After searching few other books, I had found ââ¬Å"The Practice of Leadershipâ⬠to suit best for accumulating the ideas and practices of leadership from the experts of this field. The entire book had been written in much organised way and an easy format. I would like to share the names of few other books such as ââ¬Å"Leadership Power Playsâ⬠and ââ¬Å"Leadership without Easy Answersâ⬠as I considered these books too for the purpose of selection. But I found that both these books were unable to cover the every small issue of leadership development that the selected book has done with practical exposures. Another most important issue of choosing this book has been that apart from describing the traditional factors of leadership such as task, capabilities of leader, the authors also provided great emphasise to describe the requirements of leadership as the unique demand of the present world. Summary This book has been organised in four parts. The four parts include leadership development and selection, task and capabilities of leaders, leadership of organisation and leadership requirement of the unique demands of todayââ¬â¢s world. The book shows that all the leaders can not be equally effective and they would not possess similar skills. It indicates that leadership is the process of determining oneââ¬â¢s hidden talent and utilise it to face the organisational challenges. According to the authors, the focus of the organisation should be on the core competence rather than various competencies and should try to build up the leaders who will able to meet the strategic challenges and the process is expected to produce the future leaders too. Primary View According to me, the book is not directly about the planning, organising, staffing, coordinating, motivating, leading, or controlling but in few of the areas, the book provides emphasis on the selection of the leaders which can be linked with the staffing. Even developing the leadership skill also requires proper planning. The portion of the task of the leader can also be summarised as organising a group and then motivating them to reach at their goal along with co-ordinating and controlling the subordinates through out the process. Therefore, it can be said that the book indirectly and secondarily focuses on these factors but not in very specific sense. Identification of Two Words One of the two words is that of ââ¬ËAffirmative Actionââ¬â¢. It refers to a hiring policy. It required analysing the entire workforce with respect to the protected classes. This protected class can be the minorities also. This action indicates the preferred treatment to these classes through removing the discriminatory employment practice (Infinity Internet. No Date). The sentence can be as follows: ââ¬ËEvery organisation should implement affirmative action to fulfil the commitment towards the internal customer as well as the community alsoââ¬â¢. Another word is ââ¬ËTapestryââ¬â¢. The word implies an outward appearance of textile art, woven on a vertical appearance. The sentences using this word can be the following: ââ¬Å"In earlier days, kings use to send the tapestries by rolling it up to their intimate onesââ¬â¢ â⬠. Linkage In the book, ââ¬ËThe Practice of Leadership: Developing the Next Generation of Leadersââ¬â¢, one human resource tool had been described to analyse the selection of the leaders namely the ââ¬Ë360 Degree Feed Back Processââ¬â¢. It is also used for performance appraisal. 360 Degree Feedback Process means the feedback for selecting leaders should be taken from each and every stakeholders of the company irrespective of upward or down word communication. This tool is very effective in this manner as the leader should be the one who will be accepted by all the subordinates and the employers. This topic is also discussed in the class room even various journals on this topic has also been referred. Take Away The three most prominent ââ¬Ëtake-awaysââ¬â¢ from ââ¬ËThe Practice of Leadership: Developing the Next Generation of Leadersââ¬â¢ by Conger and Riggio have been the following: Take Away I: I believed that leaders are inborn and not much formal guidance is needed to sharpen their skills but after reading the book, I recognised that there is a need of leadership development. In born qualities are not enough for it. The corporate leaders or the executives need to change their self according to the changing environment to meet the strategic challenge. Take Away II: I never know that a leader could be selected through the 360 Degree Feed Back Process. I had a perception that leaders always come to frontline by exhibiting their leadership quality in their day-to-day activities and get recognised accordingly. The concept of taking feedback through the questionnaires completely changed my notion in this regard. Take Away III: I did not possess any idea regarding the partnership of coaching and the ââ¬ËGo It Aloneââ¬â¢ process. The book helped me to understand that the executive, the organisation and the coach are three partners and all of them are responsible for the improvements of the executives and that of the entire organisation. Meeting with the Author The authors stated that any organisation should focus on the core competency and should strive to produce leaders to meet the strategic challenges. I could not totally agree with the authors in this regard. I presume the leadership development process should focus more on selecting the best person at the beginning of the process as they can focus on producing the future leaders among the subordinates and provide them training to identify the strategic challenges and take preventive actions against all shortcomings. If I could meet the authors personally, I would have surely sought their clarification in this regard. Conclusion Despite the above mentioned dis-agreement with the authors, it should be acknowledged that the book ââ¬ËThe Practice of Leadership: Developing the Next Generation of Leadersââ¬â¢ has been a great help for me to understand the various domains and segments of leadership and I am sure it would help me in my corporate exposure by considerable extent. Chris Evans launching of ââ¬ÅThe Terry and Gaby Showââ¬Â on Five in 2003 Free Essays
Chris Evans launched ââ¬Å"The Terry and Gaby Showâ⬠on Five in 2003, in an attempt to compete with ITVââ¬â¢s ââ¬Å"This Morningâ⬠. In less than a year it had been axed. Looking in detail at an episode from each show, identify the codes and conventions of the daytime TV genre, and suggest why ââ¬Å"The Terry and Gaby Showâ⬠failed to dent the popularity of ââ¬Å"This Morningâ⬠. We will write a custom essay sample on Chris Evans launching of ââ¬Å"The Terry and Gaby Showâ⬠on Five in 2003 or any similar topic only for you Order Now After looking at each of the episodes I found that the presenters in each one were quite the same. In both of the shows they have a man and a woman presenter and in both of the shows they seem very chatty and friendly. I think that in TAGS the presenters (Terry and Gaby) are better known and also have been in lots of different shows working together in the past. I think this shows that they should be able to work together very well and this should help the show, but as they know each other well it could make them more relaxed and so this could spoil it slightly as they talk to each other rather than the audience. In both of the shows the presenters are smiley and happy which is good because this should help people be more relaxed watching the show. It also makes it more personal to the people watching. For TAGS I think the presenters are more well known and more famous they are well known for some of the shows they have been in and this could make people more likely to watch it. In TM the presenters talk to the audience more rather than talking to each other, which will definitely help the show but the presenters of TM (Fern and Philip) are not as well known and not as famous so people might rather see TAGS. I think that the presenters have nothing to do with TAGS being axed. I feel that the conventions for daytime TV presenters are that they have to be chatty, happy and friendly. Terry and Gaby are well known for being in lots of shows but most of the shows they are in are similar. In all of the shows they are in they are smiley happy and chatty which is the same in TAGS. This is probably why they were chosen for the show in the first place. You havenââ¬â¢t really differentiated the presenters in terms of their brand imageâ⬠¦ they are not identical! PH There are lots of different types of items featured on daytime TV the conventions for daytime TV are Celebrity news and interviews, real life stories, Gossip/News and competitions. In TAGS they had all of this stuff but their celebrities were not as famous as in TM. I think this is mainly because TM had been Going for much longer and so was more known in the celeb world this means more famous celebrities are more likely to agree to be on TM because it was more well known. In the episode of TAGS we watched the celeb they interviewed was mostly just on the show so he could advertise another show which was coming on channel5. In the episode of TM we watched they had a different variety of celebââ¬â¢s interviewed which could be another reason it was more popular than TAGS. In TAGS the competition prize was just a DVD player and the competition was very easy to answer they probably did this so that more people would ring with the answer witch would give them more money and as it was easy it would attract more viewers. This obviously didnââ¬â¢t work which is probably because the prize was not as good either. In TM the competition was harder to get but the prize was a holiday, which is much better than TAGS and could have helped them get more viewers. I think that the competitions didnââ¬â¢t have much to do with TAGS getting axed. For both of the shows They had someone on who spoke about celeb news and gossip and a bit of normal news. I think that in TM it was much more informative and detailed and in TAGS it was much more comedy rather than real news and information. I think they mainly did this because they were trying to target a younger audience by making it more up beat and new. They tried to do this by putting in things to encourage young student viewers as well as the older generation. TM is more targeted at an older generation because they have things In to appeal to older people. I think that TAGS made a mistake by doing this because it is more likely that people who are older are going to be watching a daytime TV show so this could have been one of the main reasons TAGS got axed. The conventions for the title sequence for a daytime TV show are loud cheery music, colourful and light settings and just some thing happy and jolly. The title sequences for both of the shows are very different; in TAGS it shows Terry and Gaby on their way to work and shows the way they are travelling. It shows that Terry is on a bike and is cycling to work and Gaby is being driven to work in a posh car she goes in the back of the television centre and Terry goes through the back. In TM it has different coloured squares running along the screen some of these have different clips from the show, some have different relaxing objects in them and some just have colour. Both of these are very colourful and bright and both have very happy cheery music in but they both are very different. For TM I think that it has a better title sequence because firstly it has better more catchy music that everybody likes but in TAGS the music is cheery but a bit boring and only some audiences would have liked it. I think that this could have been one of the reasons that TAGS got axed because people might have seen the title sequence and then thought that the show was not for them. I think that the set in TM is much more calm and relaxing which is good because in daytime TV it should be relaxing so they can relax from whatever job they are doing and sit down and not have to watch anything to bright and confusing. For TAGS the set is very bright and up beat and much more colourful. I think it is the convention of daytime TV to have a very bright set and to have it set up like someoneââ¬â¢s living room with a sofa to make it look more homely. I think that the set for TM is much more relaxing and homely and that in Tags it is a bit too bright and colourful. This could have defiantly put people of watching the show. In TAGS They have a studio audience unlike TM who havenââ¬â¢t. I think that TAGS having an audience is good because it includes the viewer more because there are normal everyday people on the TV too but it is also good for TM not to have an audience because it means their wont be any background noises or laughs at the wrong time which could annoy people. Rather vague, little use of media terminology (Mise-en-scene etc). PH By Sam Iles Sam, you have not properly addressed the points I raised from your first draft. Detailed examples are lacking (no mention of specific guests), nor do you make much reference to media concepts or theory (celebrity brands, mise-en-scene). You do identify some of the codes and conventions of the genre and engage in some limited analysis of the strengths and weaknesses of each text. The Cause Of Evil Macbeth Essay Example For Students
The Cause Of Evil Macbeth Essay Macbeth, once a noble and courageous warrior is transformed into an egotistical and ruthless tyrant. In the play Macbeth, by William Shakespeare, Macbeth encounters a transformation which brings him the crown, as well as his death. However, this transformation reached the point it did because three motivational factors. Throughout the tragedy the Three Witches (along with the prophecy), Macbethââ¬â¢s himself, and Lady Macbeth were motivational factors that manipulated Macbeth into committing murder and treason. Although it is Macbeth who is at blame for his actions, it is these three motivational factors that caused him to complete those actions. If it were not for these people, Macbeth might have taken a different path and could have continued to be the gracious and admirable warrior that he once was. The Three Witches were a major influencing factor in Macbethââ¬â¢s demise. The Three Witches were the birth of Macbethââ¬â¢s transformation. They were the ones who told Macbeth the prophecy; the prophecy that seemed to have sparked Macbethââ¬â¢s evil wrath, ââ¬Å"All hail, Macbeth! Hail to thee, Thane of Glamis! / All hail, Macbeth! Hail to thee, Thane of Cawdor! / All hail, Macbeth, that shalt be king hereafter! â⬠(1. 3. 51-53). We will write a custom essay on The Cause Of Evil Macbeth specifically for you for only $16.38 $13.9/page Order now After receiving this prophecy, Macbeth starts to transform into an evil man who will not let anything stand in his way. In addition, the Three Witches use the apparitions to motivate Macbeth. They fool Macbeth and lead him to believe that he should not worry. In conclusion, it was the Three Witches who started the whole ordeal and continued to provoke Macbeth into committing such barbaric murders. However, they were not the only ones involved in Macbethââ¬â¢s transformation. Although the Three Witches played a part in Macbethââ¬â¢s transformation, it was Macbeth himself who kept reassuring himself. Macbeth took the prophecies that he received and turned them into his own personal reassurance: Bring me no more reports. Let them fly all. / Till Birnam Wood remove to Dunsinane/ I cannot taint with fear. Whatââ¬â¢s the boy Malcolm? / Was he not born of woman? The spirits that know/ All mortal consequences have pronounced me thus:/ ââ¬ËFear not, Macbeth. No man thatââ¬â¢s born of woman/ Shall eââ¬â¢er have power upon theeââ¬â¢Ã¢â¬ ¦ (5. 3. 1-7). Macbeth would develop a false sense of security, which lead him to believe that he was invulnerable. He would act as if his throne could not be threatened and that he had nothing to worry about, when however he was under great danger of being backstabbed by his once loyal friends. Furthermore, Macbeth creates a false sense of mind and forces himself to believe that the words of the Three Witches are true. Macbethââ¬â¢s incorrect conclusions formed from the apparitions and his own interpretation of the prophecy, lead to his ruin. Macbethââ¬â¢s greatest cause of his destruction was the one he held dearest to him, Lady Macbeth. Lady Macbeth questions Macbethââ¬â¢s manhood in an attempt to manipulate him into doing things that she wants. For instance, when Macbeth is questioning whether or not he should murder Duncan, Lady Macbeth fools Macbeth into thinking about how any real man would commit the murder: What beast was ââ¬Ët/ then,/ that made you break this enterprise to me? / When you durst do it, then you were a man;/ And to be more than what you were, you would/ Be so much more the man (1. 7. 53-58). This occurs in the play numerous times and it is a very affective motivator for his transformation. Lady Macbeth is very ruthless when it comes to accomplishing what she desires and that is obvious because of how she deceives Macbeth. .u507a08beff9553a9789c6aa28d010039 , .u507a08beff9553a9789c6aa28d010039 .postImageUrl , .u507a08beff9553a9789c6aa28d010039 .centered-text-area { min-height: 80px; position: relative; } .u507a08beff9553a9789c6aa28d010039 , .u507a08beff9553a9789c6aa28d010039:hover , .u507a08beff9553a9789c6aa28d010039:visited , .u507a08beff9553a9789c6aa28d010039:active { border:0!important; } .u507a08beff9553a9789c6aa28d010039 .clearfix:after { content: ""; display: table; clear: both; } .u507a08beff9553a9789c6aa28d010039 { display: block; transition: background-color 250ms; webkit-transition: background-color 250ms; width: 100%; opacity: 1; transition: opacity 250ms; webkit-transition: opacity 250ms; background-color: #95A5A6; } .u507a08beff9553a9789c6aa28d010039:active , .u507a08beff9553a9789c6aa28d010039:hover { opacity: 1; transition: opacity 250ms; webkit-transition: opacity 250ms; background-color: #2C3E50; } .u507a08beff9553a9789c6aa28d010039 .centered-text-area { width: 100%; position: relative ; } .u507a08beff9553a9789c6aa28d010039 .ctaText { border-bottom: 0 solid #fff; color: #2980B9; font-size: 16px; font-weight: bold; margin: 0; padding: 0; text-decoration: underline; } .u507a08beff9553a9789c6aa28d010039 .postTitle { color: #FFFFFF; font-size: 16px; font-weight: 600; margin: 0; padding: 0; width: 100%; } .u507a08beff9553a9789c6aa28d010039 .ctaButton { background-color: #7F8C8D!important; color: #2980B9; border: none; border-radius: 3px; box-shadow: none; font-size: 14px; font-weight: bold; line-height: 26px; moz-border-radius: 3px; text-align: center; text-decoration: none; text-shadow: none; width: 80px; min-height: 80px; background: url(https://artscolumbia.org/wp-content/plugins/intelly-related-posts/assets/images/simple-arrow.png)no-repeat; position: absolute; right: 0; top: 0; } .u507a08beff9553a9789c6aa28d010039:hover .ctaButton { background-color: #34495E!important; } .u507a08beff9553a9789c6aa28d010039 .centered-text { display: table; height: 80px; padding-left : 18px; top: 0; } .u507a08beff9553a9789c6aa28d010039 .u507a08beff9553a9789c6aa28d010039-content { display: table-cell; margin: 0; padding: 0; padding-right: 108px; position: relative; vertical-align: middle; width: 100%; } .u507a08beff9553a9789c6aa28d010039:after { content: ""; display: block; clear: both; } READ: The Rise and Fall of Lady Macbeth EssaySecondly, Lady Macbeth exploits Macbethââ¬â¢s ambition and ego. She asks if Macbeth really desires what he spoke about earlier. In addition, Macbethââ¬â¢s weak mind is exposed and that results in him performing the many murders. If it were not for Lady Macbethââ¬â¢s mercilessness, then Macbeth might have become a valorous and magnificent warrior. As the drama of Macbeth progresses, the reader witnesses a metamorphosis take place with Macbeth. He transforms from a valiant warrior into a corrupt murderer. Even though it was Macbeth who carried out the crimes, they were the thoughts of other people. The Three Witches and Lady Macbeth influenced Macbeth. Macbeth was a loyal man who had a conscience but was made into a cold-hearted killer. The Three Witches were miserable women who desired the death and ruin of Macbeth. Moreover, Macbethââ¬â¢s ambition and greed propelled him to destroy anyone who stood in the way of his success. Lastly, Lady Macbeth was a selfish woman who played Macbeth for a fool and used him to gain her fancies. The Three Witches, Macbethââ¬â¢s own unchecked ambition and Lady Macbeth were the motivational factors which ultimately lead to the doom and destruction of Macbeth.

Red Skelton essays
Red Skelton essays We know him as Freddy the Freeloader, Clem Kaddidlehopper, Cauliflower McPugg and Dead Eye. His career spanned over fifty years and he conquered every entertainment medium from vaudeville to television. He is Red Skelton, whos remarkable skill to evoke emotional responses from laughter to tears from his audiences have marked him as one of the greatest and best loved comedians. In his biography of this great comedian, Arthur Marx captured the many and diverse aspects of Red Skelton. While he was a comedic clown on the outside, like many other comedians, Skeltons home life was anything but funny. Marx illustrates how Skeltons private life was full of tragedy, including the death of his only son from leukemia, the suicide of his wife, and his own near mental collapse. Marx says that through much of his life, Skelton was an unhappy and tormented individual, a sad and lonely man who trusted practically no one and who was as unreachable as a distant star. Skelton was the son of a circus clown was raised in poverty, he quit school at the age of seven and trouped in circuses, carnivals, and vaudeville theaters. Marx points out that his career began in his hometown of nearby Vincennes, Indiana. At age 10, he left his home to travel with a medicine show throughout the Midwest. He joined the vaudeville circus at age 15. Then at the young age of 17, Skelton married Edna Marie Stilwell, who later, even after their divorce, served as his manager and chief writer. Continuing the story of Skeltons career, Marx points out that Skelton made his debut on Broadway and radio in 1937 and on film in 1938 on the show Having Wonderful Time. At that time, known as Richard Skelton, he performed some of his own pieces such as a demonstration of how different people walk up and down stairs. That appearance, Marx says, may have been Skeltons big break. He was signed by MGM in 1940 to serve as comedy re ...

5 Alternate Candidates that Students Ask to Be Their Writing Tutors
5 Alternate Candidates that Students Ask to Be Their Writing Tutors 5 Alternate Candidates that Students Ask to Be Their Writing Tutors Writing tutors usually charge high fees that the average college student cannot afford. If you would like to hire a professional tutor, but simply do not have the money to spend, here are five options to consider. 1. Friends If you have a friend who is an excellent writer or enjoys writing papers, you can ask him/her to be your writing tutor. Perhaps, you are good at math so you can offer him/her math tutoring in exchange for writing help. Asking your friend for help is a good option because it is usually easier to work with someone you feel comfortable. In addition, your friend knows you and can probably figure out how to explain information in a way that makes sense to you. 2. Relatives If you have a cousin, aunt, grandparent, or sibling who excels at writing, they will most likely be willing to help you write a paper. Relatives will support you for free. If you arenââ¬â¢t sure who of your relatives is a good writer, try asking if someone would like to be your writing tutor. 3. Senior Student Another good idea is to hire a senior student, preferably one who has already graduated from the university. This person will consult you on how to write papers successfully on the specific subject or for the particular professor. He/she will do it much better than someone else. You may even ask for his/her own papers you can read for guidance. Most graduates work as tutors just after finishing the university in order to earn some extra cash, while they are unemployed. Of course he/she may charge you for tutoring, but the fee will not be as high as for a professional helper. 4. Professor Most professors have office hours, the time set aside for students to come to the professorââ¬â¢s office and ask their questions. So, when you have some troubles with paper writing you may feel free to ask your supervisor for help. It does not matter what kind of questions you have. Maybe you need some advice on topic selection, or you are wondering if your paper is organized appropriately. Take into account that you are not the only one who needs help, and your professor may speak to several other students at the same time. So, if you have decided to go there, it is better to plan what you want to ask, in order not to come there hundred times every day with only one question per time. Keep in mind that your professor is the one who will grade your paper, so they are often the best people to ask for advice. As well as professors also notice and appreciate students who take the time and efforts to attend office hours. 5.à Classmates If you have no relatives or no senior students to help you, you may ask your group mates if they have such people who help them with the assignments. Everyone knows that the best way to comprehendà the material is to explain it to other people. So, ask your classmates if anyone is aware of the issue you have faced. If there is one who knows it, he/she will help you for sure, as well as, if you are good at the questions other students ask, you may help them too. Even more, it is a great idea to organize a study group, where students can discuss all the tricky points sitting together in a room. Do not worry about not having enough money to afford a professional writing tutor. There are lots of great options that will fit into any budget!
